Affiliate Marketers Give Back Takes on the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer

For the third year in a row, Team Affiliate Marketers Give Back took to the streets with their feet  to do their part to fight breast cancer; this time during the 39-mile Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Los Angeles.

This year’s team consisted of Brook Schaaf of Schaaf Consulting, Chris Pearson of DIYThemes, Melissa Salas of Buy.com, Kevin Strawbridge of DealTaker.com, Lynette LaPlante a 1-year survivor and me.

After months of fun and sometimes whacky fund raising activities, Team Affiliate Marketers Give Back blew past their goal and raised nearly $53,000, earning as them the #5 highest fundraising team spot overall.

After two days of walking (26.2 miles on Day 1 and 13.1 miles on Day 2), we wound up with 12 team-wide blisters, dozens of muscle aches, 1 broken nail, tons of hilarious video footage (coming soon) and a sense of pride and accomplishment knowing that we were doing something great to help fight a disease that has affected so many women and men.

A full recap of the walk will appear in the next issue of FeedFront Magazine.

I am proud of my team and I thank them so much for volunteering their time. I’m also very grateful to all of our sponsors and supporters who helped us reach our fundraising goal.

If you are interested in walking with Team Affiliate Marketers Give Back, please get in touch with me. We are tentatively scheduled to walk in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Chicago on June 5-6, 2010.

Come Cheer the Team On in LA (or from your PC!)

http://iwalkforboobies.com

Well, the Avon Breast Cancer Walk is finally upon us.

When all said and done Team Affiliate Marketers Give back has raised $51,059.67 for the walk, making us the 5th highest fund raising team for the walk. (That’s a whole lot of access to care and dollars to fund research for a cure to this horrible disease.)

I’ve personally raised $20,400.00 making me the 3rd highest fundraiser overall and also affords me the opportunity to meet Patrick Dempsey. #McDreamyFanGirlSoWhat

We have all of you to thank for this. Without your support, whether it be via donations, marketing or cheering us on, we would not have raised as much as we did — especially in this economy!

So, I fly out tomorrow because I’m still chicken to fly on 9/11. Stupidsticious, I know.  But that’s the way it is.

After check in on Friday, we have a team dinner at Wokcano’s, where I will be wrestling Chris Pearson for all the Ahi on the table. It’s going to be an early night for us because we have to be up and out the door by 4:45am to make the Opening Ceremony.

Overall, this is a 39 mile walk. On Saturday, we will walk 26+ miles and on Sunday, we will walk the balance.

I will be taking lots of photos and video which will be posted on the AffiliateMarketersGiveBack.com website. Swing by and leave us a comment or send me a tweet of encouragement.

If you live in the LA/Long Beach area and want to cheer us on in person, that would be even more awesome! There are cheering stations and times set up for you to do just that. We would love to see you!

Big thanks to all of the folks that have helped me and tolerated all my fundraising emails, instant messages, tweets, blog posts, facebook posts and calls. If I didn’t believe that we could really make a difference, I wouldn’t do it.

Peace.
