20-Mile Training Walk for Breast Cancer 3-day

On August 16th, Missy Ward from Affiliate Summit (Captain of Team Affiliate Marketers Worldwide) and Jen Fluker from Market Leverage did a 20-mile (almost) training walk to get ready for the Seattle Breast Cancer 3-Day / 60-mile walk benefitting the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure.

Missy and Jen, along with 9 other Affiliate Marketers will meet up in Seattle on September 11th and spend the next 3 days walking, talking, having fun and stopping breast cancer. Their goal is to raise $40,000 and they’re nearly there.

Follow them along on their journey at www.AffiliateMarketersGiveBack.com or on Twitter at www.twitter.com/amgb.

Making Great Strides

I realized this morning, I leave two weeks from today to embark on a journey I am sure to remember the rest of my life.

Earlier this month many of us attended Affiliate Summit in Boston. We met each other, many of us, for the first time.

This is a few of us… Including my husband, who won’t be walking but proudly wears boob shirts.

While attending the event we sold fabulous buttons that said “I Gave back” for $10 each. We only spent a single day selling, but came away with just over $1600.00. More importantly we came away having met so many more that shared stories and heart felt compation for the cause. It was truly a great exeperience, and I imagine just a small taste of what lies ahead.

So now that I am in “the walk is almost here” mode, I, along with the rest of the team are starting to pick up last minute necessities. We’re finalizing our registration processes, wrapping up our travel plans and trying to mentally prepare for this big adventure.

I’m excited! I have no idea, really, of what awaits — but it’s a challenge I am looking forward to – because it’s a path to a change I want to be a part of!

It’s not too late, if you’d like to help support our team and the fight for breast cancer, please make a donation and share the joy!

We’ve raised $36,163 for Breast Cancer Awareness So Far

So we’re coming down to the wire….

I wanted to take time out to thank my team for all of their fundraising efforts, for taking time out of their lives to train for and walk 60-miles, for forking up the costs of travel to Seattle and hotel nights and lastly, for dealing with my nutty ideas on how to raise enough money to hit our fundraising goal.

Angel Djambazov, Jen Fluker, Karen Garcia, Jen Goode, Debby Phillips, Laura Przybek, Adam Riemer, Lisa Riolo, Irene and Tiffany Spaulding — your generosity knows no bounds and you have my undying gratitude.

To the other walkers we’ve lost along the way, thank you for all of your efforts and we hope to have you join us next year.

I am grateful to our T-shirt sponsors for stepping up with their liberal donations. Here’s what Team Affiliate Marketers Worldwide will be sporting during our walk:

Front of shirt back of shirt

Pretty sharp, eh?

I would also like to thank each of the affiliate marketers that purchased an “I Gave Back Button”, made special donations, supplied us with prizes to give away, popped up AffiliateMarketersGiveBack.com banners on their sites, blogged about the cause and sent notes of encouragement. I am humbled by the big-heartedness of this industry when it comes to rallying for a cause.

To date, our team has raised $36,163.00 (90% of our goal) for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. That number is just awe-inspiring to me and we still have a couple of weeks to go!

Over the last week, I’ve had a few people ask me what they can do to help, if anything. Right now, we’re pretty much set and simply concentrating on helping a few of the team members hit their ($2,200) minimum goal. So, if you’d like to make a donation, I ask that you select Angel, Karen or Adam, when doing so. Donations can be made online at www.60-milewalk.com and then clicking on the individual’s name.

If you’re in Seattle and would like to come cheer us on or meet up for dinner, the walk is September 12-14. Shoot me off an email 🙂

You can also check us out virtually, as I will be posting videos and pictures during the walk on this site or follow us on Twitter at www.twitter.com/amgb.

One more big round of applause for everyone that has supported us!

Wish us a blister-free 60!

-Missy
